ReptiMarket is a trading platform for breeders of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, accessible via the website and the ReptiMarket mobile app. This document sets out the child protection standards applicable across the entire ReptiMarket service — in all language versions, on all country-specific domains and within the mobile app.
These standards apply to every user without exception: those posting listings, running breeding facilities and shops, posting on the forum, leaving reviews and using private messages.
§ 1. Absolute prohibition of content and activities harmful to children
ReptiMarket operates a zero-tolerance policy towards the sexual abuse and exploitation of children — known internationally as CSAE (Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation). The following, in particular, is strictly prohibited:
- publishing, uploading, storing, sharing and distributing material depicting the sexual abuse of children (CSAM, Child Sexual Abuse Material), including links to such material;
- depicting minors in a nude, partially nude or sexualised manner, as well as commenting on an image of a child in a sexual context;
- soliciting children and building trust with them for the purpose of sexual exploitation (grooming), including via private messages on the service;
- coercing a child into providing intimate material or threatening to disclose it (sextortion);
- persuading a child to engage in sexual contact, proposing a meeting for that purpose, and all forms of human trafficking and the exploitation of children for financial gain;
- promoting, justifying or trivialising the abuse of children, as well as searching for such material or contacts.
The ban applies to all forms of content: photographs, recordings, drawings and graphics, text, account names, profile pictures, listing titles and descriptions, forum posts, reviews, comments and private messages. The ban applies regardless of whether the content is public or visible only to a single recipient.
§ 2. Who may use the website
ReptiMarket is not a website intended for children. We do not direct content or advertisements at children, nor do we create features aimed at children.
In accordance with the Terms and Conditions, accounts on the website may only be created by adults. Minors may use the platform only with the consent and under the supervision of a legal guardian, provided that this is permitted by applicable law. We do not ask users for children’s personal data and do not permit the publication of children’s images in listings or on profiles.
§ 3. How to report content harmful to a child
Reports can be submitted in two ways — both are available 24 hours a day.
On the website and in the mobile app. Next to listings, pet profiles, breeder profiles, reviews and private messages, there is a ‘Report’ button. In the report window, select the reason ‘Child safety / content involving minors’. Reports in this category bypass the standard moderation queue and immediately trigger an alert to the safety team.
By email. We accept reports at moderacja@reptimarket.pl. This method does not require an account or logging in, so it is also available to external parties — carers, organisations and government bodies.
In your report, please provide a link (web address) to the content, the name of the account to which the matter relates, and a brief description. The material must not be downloaded, copied, stored or forwarded — including to us. The link itself is sufficient, and further distribution of such material constitutes a criminal offence.
§ 4. What we do after receiving a report
We treat reports concerning child safety as a priority, responding no later than within 24 hours of receipt. The procedure involves:
- immediately hiding or removing the reported content from the site, and in the case of a listing, also suspending it;
- permanently blocking the account of the person responsible and prohibiting them from re-registering;
- securing evidence for the purposes of the investigation — we record the data necessary to identify the perpetrator and the course of events, in accordance with our Privacy Policy;
- notifying the relevant authorities if a criminal offence is suspected.
An account suspension imposed due to a breach of these standards is permanent and cannot be lifted by means of a standard appeal. We guarantee confidentiality to the person making the report — we do not disclose their details to the person reported.
§ 5. Cooperation with authorities and organisations
Where a criminal offence is suspected, we notify the law enforcement authorities and provide them with information to the extent required by law. Irrespective of whether a report has been made to us, any suspicion of child abuse can and should be reported directly to:
- The police — emergency number 112 (in Poland also 997). In the event of an immediate threat to a child, this is the quickest route.
- Dyżurnet.pl — a Polish team that receives reports of illegal content on the internet, operating within the NASK institute: dyzurnet@dyzurnet.pl.
- The national hotline of the INHOPE network — in other countries where the service is available, reports can be submitted to the national contact point belonging to the international INHOPE network.
§ 6. Child Protection Contact Point
Matters relating to child protection on the ReptiMarket website are handled by the ReptiMarket security team. The contact point is:
- moderacja@reptimarket.pl – reports from users, guardians and organisations, as well as requests from law enforcement agencies and enquiries regarding these standards.
We respond to reports in this area within 24 hours. We accept correspondence in Polish and English.
§ 7. How we prevent breaches
- Content moderation. Listings, profiles and posts are subject to moderation, and every report from a user is routed to the moderation panel, where it is assessed and recorded along with the decision taken.
- Dedicated report category. ‘Child safety’ is a separate reason for submitting a report, handled outside the usual queue to ensure such matters do not get lost amongst reports about spam or duplicates.
- User verification. In accordance with the Terms and Conditions, we may at any time verify a user’s details and request a document confirming their identity, and until verification is complete, restrict access to the website’s features.
- Permanent consequences. An account blocked for breaching child protection standards cannot be reinstated, and attempts to re-register are blocked.
§ 8. Validity and review of standards
These standards apply to the ReptiMarket website and the ReptiMarket mobile app from the date of their publication. We review them at least once a year, as well as following any significant change to the website’s features or legislation. A breach of these standards constitutes a breach of the Terms and Conditions and entitles us to immediately remove the content and suspend the account.
